Frequently Asked Questions

Where is the location of Summer Surge?+

Summer Surge youth camp is held at Garden City Chapel, just south of Myrtle Beach in Murrells Inlet, SC. Their address is 316 Dogwood Dr N, Murrells Inlet, SC 29576.

What is the cost for Summer Surge?+

Costs are determined by each individual church based on our camp price plus the church's transportation and any added things necessary for the group to attend. For exact costs, ask the church you'd be attending with. Pricing includes food, lodging, games, daily services, and a yearly themed Summer Surge t-shirt.

Are meals included?+

All meals are included in the registration cost except for lunch on the Free Day. Included meals start with dinner on Monday night and end with breakfast on Friday morning. We serve a variety of student-friendly, filling meals throughout the week.

What if our student(s) have dietary restrictions?+

Let us know before attending so we can accommodate. We're happy to work with allergies and dietary needs — just flag it during registration or with your group leader ahead of time.

How do I know that I am fully registered for Summer Surge?+

To complete registration you must: 1) fill out registration forms completely (including permission slip, waivers, and medical information), 2) present a copy of your insurance card, and 3) pay in full.

Do students need to bring extra money?+

Yes. Students will need extra money for vending machines, arcades, and any other purchases not included in the cost of Summer Surge.

Who can attend?+

Summer Surge is for students in grades 6-12 — rising 6th graders (having completed 5th grade the school year immediately before camp) through recent high school graduates. Individual teenagers and adults must register through their local church; Summer Surge doesn't allow individual check-ins without a group. Adult workers must be 18+, out of high school, and approved by their church leadership and Summer Surge staff.

Can I volunteer at camp?+

Yes, if you meet the guidelines: adult workers must be at least 18 years old and out of high school. Camp workers must be approved by their church leadership and the Summer Surge staff, complete a worker registration form, and pass a background check.

What about safety and security?+

Safety is a top priority. All staff and adult leaders are background-checked and trained to supervise students throughout the week. We maintain a strong adult-to-student ratio, and all activities, lodging, and transportation are overseen with care.

What's the deposit and refund policy?+

In the event of a cancellation, the initial $50 deposit is non-refundable. If a camper or worker is a no-show on day one, no refund will be made — except for a documented family or medical emergency, in which case we'll refund the camp cost minus the $50 deposit on a case-by-case basis.
